About the Author

Ron Marasco began his airline career in 1956 as a flight engineer with Pan Am. From the beginning of the 747 operation until 1984, he held senior positions, including vice president of maintenance and engineering associated with all phases of 747 maintenance. After leaving Pan Am, he continued his involvement as senior vice president of operations for Flying Tigers and was the operations executive who spearheaded the start-up and FAA certification of Atlas Air and Polar Air Cargo, all of which had 747 cargo fleets.

He received the Air Transportation Association’s prestigious Nuts and Bolts Award for outstanding professional leadership and management skills in airline maintenance and engineering spanning a career of forty years, and in celebration of his pioneering work in introducing the 747, into commercial service.

He currently is a Pan Am Historical Foundation board member and lives with his wife, Barbara, in East Hampton, New York.

A must read for all who love aviation, and all those who confront problems head on and cure them with brains & teamwork!!!

Great read about multiple problems surrounding the introduction of the "magnificent" B747 aircraft into commercial airline service, commencing in January, 1970. The author, Ron Marasco was indeed the "Pan Am" point man from the start that headed and directed the selected Pan Am team of maintenance technicians chosen to aid the introduction of the B747 into Pan Am passenger service. But......this story reaches out much further then the small band of these Pan Am folk. This is a story about technical problems overcome by scores of dedicated people, men & women from the Boeing Aircraft Company, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engines, Pan American World Airways and all the initial B747 aircraft operators across the world!!!! Thanks to the airmen, the maintenance crews, the engineering folks, the production line personnel at Boeing & P&W that worked so hard to deliver to the world traveling public, the safest aircraft ever built, "The Queen of the Skies"...the B747. This is truly a "human" story worth telling to all in the aviation community, and beyond, as to what teamwork, hard work, dedication, brotherhood, capable leadership can do when focused and motivated to completing the mission!!! Read it...IMHO, there is much to learned from all angles!!! John Lewis Arcari

More credit should go to the operational crews and related matintenance personal who had to operate under diffficult saituations

Most interesting awesome especially since the airlines went from the 220 seat 707 to the giant 464 seat 747.
The 747 was the first commercial airplane that went into service without first going through military air force experiences to take some of the bugs out. Much of the 747 problems were that caused by various engine difficulties that took time and expense to correct and caused multiple engine failures on a few flights. It appears to me the writer was lenient in reporting operational problems and high costs associated. More should have been written as to the stress and operational situations crews had to operate under. Don't like that a computer replaced the Flight Engineer.

Well written and engaging but oh-so-predictable

Book 2 in what is set to be an on-going soap opera with a taster of Book 3 included at the end.

BBAB is yet another reinterpretation of the classic Beauty and The Beast theme. It's well told but I found it less immersive than Book 1 on account of pretty much being able to anticipate well in advance where the next shoe would fall. As per Book 1, internal dialog carries the story: it's very good from Autumn's perspective but Eagle's by comparison is a little clunky and less confident. I suspect because he's supposed to be an alpha male...so, perhaps would have been better to use a suitably qualified male collaborator to cover his chapters...just saying.

The reason for 3-Stars is down to the sheer predictability of the story. I guessed how BBAB was going to end right at start - and nailed it - meaning the only open question is what you get to experience on the way to the destination. Staying with this criticism, I believe good stories (like good movies) *don't* give invested audiences what they generally expect; there has to be a clever twist or surprising departure and this is absent in BBAB.

To close: in a face-to-face shootout, Book 1 wins hands down for its stronger characters and story-telling creativity.

I started this series last week and since then I've been consumed by these characters and the awful reality they have now found themselves in.

I'll start by saying this is one of the most amazing series I've ever read. It tears you apart in one scene but then puts you back together in the next. The depth of the characters and the story means that I have now been left with a mass of emotions and I need more!!!!!

Beneath Blood and Bone is set in Purgatory which is where Lei, Eve and Alex escaped from in Thicker than Blood. This is made out to be a place of safety from the rotters that roam the street trying to eat you. But behind the closed gates it isn't always safe, everyone is out for themselves and you learn to trust no one. Jeffers and Liv rule it with sets of rules that are meant to protect, but that safety often turns to hell for the ones on the inside and some of them love to watch others pay a price for their own freedom!

This story focuses on Eagle and Autumn. Eagle is a dangerous man who prides himself on being in control inside the compound, Autumn was found in the wild and is completely feral when she is brought in. She fights for her freedom not realising the cost it may have on her life, luckily for her Eagle turns out to be an unlikely saviour and the two of them embark on a difficult friendship that leads them both to face the things they have been hiding from.

This story isn't pretty, it's gory, twisted, heart breaking and intense, but along the way there are glimmers of light, love and hope.
Home is not a place, but a feeling and in the world they are living in that means more than anything else.

Madeline and Claire are formidable writers blending their words together seamlessly creating a terrifying yet beautiful world. They aren't scared of shocking you as a reader and I absolutely love that, they take you on a journey one that will filter into your soul and stay forever.

This series is so much more than the rotters that walk the earth, its about emotions, heartache and love which we may only have for a moment, but that moment is better than never feeling love again.
I took a chance on this series and I'm so glad I did, this is one of the best series I've read this year.

The book is fine and all

The book is fine and all, but the MP3s that you download are titled totally incorrectly! For example, MP3 #1 is titled "01 Cantabile" but the actual piece played on the file is Prelude Op. 28 No. 7. In order to know what file is what song, somewhere on one of the first pages is a track listing. Keep the numbers the same, and retype the text to match the track listing, e.g. "07 Prelude Op. 28, No 15" is actually "07 Nocturne Op. 9, No. 2". Also, the order that the songs are listed in the Amazon description for this item is the correct order.

The songs listed in the description are the only ones in this book; no more, no less.

YOUr greatest power

Your Greatest Power is J. Martin Kohe's inspirational classic that postulates individual choice as key to one's being. On first passing this book should be read on it's superficial level where you gather wisdom from historical parables which show how careful decision making can lead to happiness and prosperity.

But there are plenty of blank pages in the back for a reason. Phase 2 in reading this book has to do with taking the universal parables and associating them with YOUR life. Make YOUrself the star in these stories and rearrage the parables to fit the situations YOU are going through in life. This is how Kohe brings wisdom to the subconscience, the most important part of how you think but a part of your mind that actually doesn't know right from wrong.

Finally Choosing Happiness summerizes your progress utilizing Napoleon Hill's Principles as the measuring stick. Again, it makes simple sense on the first read level. On an advanced level, you see the author is trying Hill's Principles and introducing the reader to the notion of basing ALL THEIR DECISIONS (and it is from decisions that we gain the power to rule our lives) on these Principles. So Kohe leaves the reader with a big choice.

Wish there was more to it. Only entertaining for a few minutes.

When people say you'll be disappointed you will be disappointed, but not if you know what you're getting. You get nine hard cover books of a character one of the nine old men were famous for animating. The book flips through one single action of that character(s). Some of the movements they chose do not look great when flipped through. Others are very good and interesting. There are about 150 pages to flip through with each book so you get some pretty good movement. Then there is a small 43 page paperback book that gives you a short history of each animator and the animation process.
The whole product is nicely packaged. It is very interesting, but a more in-depth book about the nine old men or Disney animation will give you a lot more. This is more of a novelty gift that you place on a coffee table or the shelf for your guest to flip through. It gets boring very quickly. The price point is a little much for what you're getting.
If you know what's in this collection and that seems interesting to you then you will love seeing the flip books. I like the flip books, but I wish there was more about the nine old men, more about the studio that created these movies and I wish that it had more than just one action to flip through. For me it was just okay.

Not as good as it could have been

The packaging on this set is very nice, with fancy binding and classy printing. But as flipbooks, it leaves a bit to be desired. First of all, the binding of the flipbooks makes it very hard to get the pages to flip down flat and the gloss on the paper makes it hard to see the tiny little lines. A few of the scenes are great, but a lot of them are very subtle actions which are great animation, but don't lend themselves to a flipbook. These are also cleanups, so the lines are very thin and tight. I would have preferred drawings that showed the hand of the animator more, not just the assistants. The most baffling thing about this set though is why they only printed on one side of each page. They could have easily put two scenes in each book. It's worth the price because it's very fancy, but I wish they had made it a little less fancy and made better books for flipping.

A treasure for any fan of animation!

If you are a fan of Disney animation, especially the early works, you need this for your collection! The nine old men were around and created one of the best times in the Disney era. These flip books show you frame by frame a famous scene done by each of the nine old men. As a lover of animation it is incredible to own something like this that lets you go frame by frame and see just how much, or little, movement is actually between each frame. Beautifully made with quality and care, this would be a great treasure for anyone who loves animation. I look forward to seeing more beautifully curated collection from Pete Docter, the director of Inside Out and Monsters Inc. Well worth the price!
