50 years ago, there was already a Justice League, comprised of the world's greatest heroes including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash. But what of their teen sidekicks Robin, Wonder Girl and Kid Flash? Hearing the groundswell of popularity for these heroes, DC Comics created the Teen Titans, an adolescent group of crimefighters whose presence completely changed the genre.

From School Library Journal
Gr 7 Up—This book covers the entire publication history of the team known as the Teen Titans, whose core membership has primarily consisted of Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Speedy, and Aqua-Lad with support from several others throughout the years. The team started out as a hip alternative to their adult counterparts designed to appeal to a younger audience; the early stories reflect that in content and language. This first section, featuring the original Titans, also contains a story from the "Teen Titans: Year One" series (DC Comics, 2008). The work also highlights "The New Titans" era to present-day, including some "Tiny Titans" (a children's cartoon-style comic with the Titans as little kids) and the graphic novel version of the Teen Titans Go! television show geared toward adolescents. This is a good selection of stories that represent the place and the growth of the team through the years as the original heroes have given way to an even younger generation in much the same way their own mentors did. Each era and team of Titans is given adequate space to give a good flavor of that group. One quibble about this work is that there are a few stories that are unresolved, leaving readers with little or no recourse to finding the conclusions, since many of the follow-ups to these tales have not been previously collected—especially in the case of the original team. VERDICT A collection that certainly warrants inclusion in any library, especially those that already have strong graphic novel collections.—Erik Knapp, Davis Library, Plano, TX

cons
*clearly anyone who is going to buy this is going to be disappointed with the selection of stories represented here as if you're willing to celebrate 50 years of teen titans you go as far back as the wolfman/perez days.
*dropping the uninitiated into the last chapter of the judas contract is just criminal.
pros
*it DOES at least cover the full breadth of the history of the teen titans (well, save team titans but hey.....they can't ALL be good ideas) and if you're a fan of the animated versions of the teams at least you'll get a nice sampling of their written stories.
*maybe any sales of this title will eventually result in the revisiting of turning the judas contract into an animated film
(if you ARE a classic teen titans fan there's always the archives series or a wolfman/perez purist the finally released "teen titans games" and/or the hardcover new teen titans collections as well as the judas contract compilation.)
and, of course, the "i am NOT a crackpot" comment
considering the ORIGINAL teen team-the legion of super-heroes-got a lousy paperback compilation for IT'S 50th anniversary at least this is a nice hardcover!

A dissapointing celebration!
By Timothy R.
To say this volume is a celebration of the Teen Titans would be a major misuse of the word Celebration. While there are commentaries and overviews on eras of the Titans, the stories are not a great representation of the Teen Titans. The Eras are represented but the elements that make the Titans great characters are missed. One major issue is the fact that many of the later stories from the Wolfman / Perez title, on up to the present, are mostly continued stories. While the "Who is Donna Troy?" story can be viewed as stand alone most of the others pick up in the middle of a storyline or end one. The Silver Age period is represented but not what I would consider some of the better stories or even representative of the early version of the Teen Titans. I would love to know the criteria for picking the stories because what we have here is a less than compelling overview of the Teen Titans. 2 stars for the layout of the book, the commentaries and the Donna Troy story. Only purchase this at a bargain price. You would be better served hitting the back issue market or searching out earlier published trades of Complete story lines.

Celebration?
By C. Zickrick
I purchased this knowing the contents so I can't claim to be shocked at the selection of stories. There was enough there for me to get it, I just wish the selection had been better. It starts out good with the very first appearance of the teen sidekicks getting together. They don't have their team name yet but it's arguably their first appearance. After that I would have expected some choice picks from that era. Instead it's their second Showcase appearance. Typical type of adventure for the team but why not go with their first showcase appearance than? Than we go to issue #25 of Teen Titans where there's a change of direction. Not a good one. I can see why it was considered but it's just not worthy. Next is #50 and also the very first issue of Teen Titans that I ever bought. This helped convince me to get the book. Others may disagree but it does have a huge number of Titans in it and captures the flavor of the team's revival. This chapter is capped off with an issue of a much later miniseries. Well done but it doesn't belong especially when there was enough actual good stuff from that era they could have gone with. The next section represents the team's most popular era. Again the selection makes one scratch their heads. They're preview insert and/or first issue should have been included. There wasn't a lack of good self contained single issue stories that would have worked great. That didn't happen though. After Perez left things were not as good so what follows is okay for a sampling I suppose. Not sure about including an issue of Young Justice but it was a good issue. Things get better with the arrival of Geoff Johns and you get a couple of issues from his run. The celebration ends with the first issue of the new 52 team plus a story each from Tiny Titans and Teen Titans Go. Not sure how stories were picked but it could have been so much better. There was enough there for me to purchase but I understand all the other disappointed reviewers.
